Punters have launched a pre-emptive Golden Slipper strike at betting giant Sportingbet Australia ahead of Solar Charged’s return to racing in Saturday’s Group III Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Warwick Farm.
Sportingbet Australia chief executive Michael Sullivan said the John O’Shea-trained filly was now a clear favourite for the two-year-old feature after Solar Charged was backed strongly midweek.
“She has been backed from $8.50 to $7.00 this week after we took bets to win $30,000 and another to win $25, 000,” Sullivan said.
“We all saw how impressive she was in the trial and she should be very hard to beat in the Kindergarten on Saturday.”
Solar Charged has opened as a $1.85 favourite with Sportingbet Australia to win Saturday’s event with last-start winners Elimbari and Georgette Silk on the second line of betting at $5.
However, Sullivan said Sportingbet Australia won’t be daunted by Solar Charged’s Golden Slipper support and will continue to lay the filly in Kindergarten Stakes betting.
“The trial was very impressive but a few of the others have won well already this preparation and I will definitely be looking to lay her here at $1.85,” Sullivan said.
Chance Bye is on the second line of Golden Slipper betting at $8.
