Caulfield Cup winning jockey Danny Nikolic has beaten four serious charges at the inquiry into his riding of 10 horses from October 2009 to February 2010.
Nikolic had previously pleaded not guilty to two improper conduct charges and two charges of conduct prejudicial to the interests of racing, stemming from his relationship with warned-off professional punter Neville Clements.
The Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board chairman Judge Russell Lewis found “there wasn’t the required levels of proof” to sustain the charges brought against the jockey by Racing Victoria stewards.
In handing down the judgement, Judge Lewis refused to criticise the stewards for their case being largely circumstantial or for the time the investigation took.
This will be updated as more information comes to hand.
