Soul set for another win

Promising youngster Soul can continue his winning form at Caulfield tomorrow according to leading trainer Peter Snowden.

The two-year-old, a son of Commands, upset a big plunge on first starter Breitling up the straight at Flemington on debut, where he ran on to score a comfortable 1.8 length win.

Robert Smerdon's Breitling is expected to be much improved and meets Soul better at the weights in tomorrow's race but Snowden is confident his youngster can go close again.

“It was a tidy effort but no surprise,” Snowden told Sport 927 of Soul's debut win.

“The stable had been pretty keen on him. There's little of him but what you see is all racehorse and he's very professional. He knows his job well and there was no fluke about his win.

“He's trained on and I know they are very happy with the way he's worked through the week so it won't surprise me from a good draw to see him running well again tomorrow.”

Soul and Breitling dominate the betting as equal favourites for tomorrow's Inglis Bonus Handicap, a race that offers $70,000 in prizemoney but a $100,000 bonus if the horse went through an Inglis sale.

Smerdon has an excellent record in the Inglis bonus races and has picked up big prizemoney in the past with the likes of Follow The Till, Tale Of Love and Enzed Girl.

He hopes Breitling, a $50,000 Inglis yearling, can add his name to the list as well.
