Leading jockeys Danny Nikolic and Blake Shinn will be sitting out the final weeks of the current racing season after incurring careless riding suspensions at Caulfield and Rosehill on Saturday.

Shinn will not ride again this season after bveing outed at Rosehill until August 1 while Nikolic's Caulfield suspension will expire on July 28, allowing him to ride olnb the final three days of the season.

Shinn was suspended for five meetings for allowing his mount Adnocon to shift in on the post in the Listed Winter Stakes, causing interference to Gergis and O'Crikey.

He will start the suspension after next Saturday's Randwick meeting and is free to return on the first day of the new season on August 1 which features the Missile Srtakes meeting at Rosehill.

Nikolic, who has been riding in outstanding form despite the constant controversy that has surrounded him for the several months, was suspended by Caulfield stewards for 10 meetings after finishing sixth on Avalon Royale in the Glasshouse Cafe Handicap.

Nikolic pleaded guilty to a mid range interference chrage which draws a 14-meeting penalty but he had had two meetings shaved off for his guilty plea and another two for his excellent riding record.

Nikolic had not been suspended for careless riding in his last 650 Victorian rides.

He has been riding on the crest of a wave over the last week with nine winners, including Diggersanddealers at today's meeting.

On Monday Nikolic faces an adjourned inquiry into a complaint regarding his handling of unplaced gelding Trustus in the Winter Championship Final at Flemington last Saturday.

Stewards will also inquire into his conduct and that of Trustus' co-trainer Brian Johnston during the hearing at Flemington.
