US: Six rivals for Rachel Alexandra

Rachel Alexandra will face six rivals in the $400,000 Lady's Secret Stakes at Monmouth Park this weekend.

The reigning Horse of the Year, who arrived at the New Jersey track on Tuesday, drew post 5 with regular rider Calvin Borel aboard.

Rachel Alexandra won last year's Haskell Invitational over the colts on her last visit to Monmouth and is back after the changes were made to the Lady's Secret to fit her program.

Originally to be run on August 1 at 1 1/16 miles, the Lady's Secret was brought forward to this weekend, extended to nine furlongs and has had $250,000 added to the purse.

Rachel Alexandra will be a hot favorite after her most recent 10 1/2-length romp to win the Fleur de Lis Handicap at Churchill Downs, her first success in three starts this year.

Rachel Alexandra was shipped to Monmouth on Tuesday following a half mile workout on Monday at Saratoga.

The field in post position order is Stage Trick, Queen Martha, Ask the Moon, Hark, Rachel Alexandra, Fabulous Babe, and Yes She's a Lady.

Only Stage Trick and Ask the Moon come off form in stakes races.

Stake Trick, trained locally by Alan Goldberg, set the pace before a third in the G3 Obeah Stakes at Delaware Park.

Ask the Moon, at her best on a wet track, was seventh in the Lady's Secret last year.

Queen Martha will have her first start on dirt. She raced five times in England before finishing second on the turf in her US debut in an allowance race at Monmouth for trainer Patrick Biancone.
