Champion jockey Craig Williams believes Trusting is set to deliver on the potential the horse has always promised after zooming around aboard the colt at the Warwick Farm trials on Tuesday.
The winner of last year’s Warwick Stakes has been off the scene since finishing well back at his only autumn start in the Group I Newmarket Handicap.
The Patinack Farm-owned three-year-old finished second, three quarters of a length behind Neeson, in an 804-metre trial run in the time of 48 seconds.
“I was very happy with him, he’s back to form again,” Williams said. “I was very happy with his attitude and the way that he trialled.
“He wasn’t the fastest out but soon gained stride and he really travelled into the trial well and finished off well.”
Meanwhile, Williams said Golden Slipper runner-up Decision Time is set to carry on from where he left off, running the fastest time of the morning over 804 metres, when winning his trial by 1-1/2 lengths in 47.6 seconds.
Williams described Decision Time as a more commanding individual than the horse he sat on in the Golden Slipper.
“I was really happy with the way he felt and how he came through the trial,” he said. “He flew the machines like always, he relaxed good, before I let him go through his gears, and he won easily.
“I reckon he’s put on up to 30kg and he’s even got a boyish attitude about himself.
“Before he was very quite with a good temperament, but now he’s turned into a physical and mental racehorse.”
Decision Time’s trainer Clarry Conners hinted the son of Foreplay is likely to resume in the Group III San Domenico Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday week.
Conners other top juvenile, Georgette Silk, also impressed Williams with her short head second placing behind Actrice in the time of 48.1 seconds.
“She’s a very good, sharp filly and produced a good turn of foot,” he said. “She relaxed good before sprinting out after them and was closing quickly.”
