30 December

Ben has been back in work for 6 weeks and is progressing nicely, so far so good.

1 October

Ben has had a wind operation last Saturday and will be rested for 6 weeks. We are hopeful this operation will allow him to perform to the potential he showed as a 2 year old.

2 September

Ben is now in Western Australia, he has settled in very well in his new training enviroment. We are hopefull that this change we help him recapture his 2yo form and zest for racing. He arrived in magnificent condition due to the expert care of Sean and staff at Heritage Park in NSW.

8 July

Ben has been spelling for 15 weeks and has made a good recovery, much quicker than we first thought. When he arrived at Heritage Park he was a very very very tired horse haveing 3 sleeps laying down between 6am and 12am and was not in good condition. On inspection our Vet agreed with Sean (Manager) and bled half a bucket of blood from Ben to help him with his recovery. Sean and his team at Heritage have done a wonderful job in getting Ben back to good health and happiness. See the photo below...

12 May

Ben has been spelling for 6 weeks after several dissapointing runs, he will have a good rest of 6 months or more and hopefully he will regain his passion and interest for racing.

1 January 2011

Ben has had 2 starts since his spell and has dissapointed on both occasions being slow out of the gates and not trying in his races. We hope he can turn his form around sooner rather than later.

14 September

Ben has been out for 8 weeks and has spelled very well as you can see by the photo below, he has been having a very nice rest at Carramar Park and is very happy and relaxed. He still has some growing to do, but like most of his family this will take time.

22 August

Ben has been out for 4 weeks so far and is obviously enjoying his spell, he looks very well and has put on some nice condition. He will have another 4 weeks off then commence pre training.

17 July

Ben ran third at Rosehill today in the 2yo colts and geldings race, he ran a nice race tracking the leader and eventual winner. He tired a little over the last 100m, possibly from being on the worst part of the track but we are very happy with how he ran.
"Went well, nice horse and going to be better next time in" said his rider Peter Robl
He will now go for a well deserved 8 week spell, after being in 2 trials and three race starts and collecting $15800 in prizemoney. This will give him time to grow and mature, and we think he will bettter next time in.
Our new race colours sure do look very nice and standout from the rest, as we expected.

3 July

Ben won his first race today at only his second start, a 1000m 2yo maiden at Kembla Grange. Prepaired to the minute by Gerlad Ryan and aided by a brilliant ride from Adam Hyeronimus, Ben took a split at the 200m mark and raced away to score by 2 lengths in 59 seconds on a track rated Dead 4. It was a very good result for his owners, and justified Geralds judgement and NuStar Syndications selection process at the 2009 Inglis Classic Sale where Ryley's Star was purchased.

18 June

Ben had a trial at Wyong today over 800m, he won his trial and pulled up ok, now we will look for a
suitable race for him.

11 June

Ben had his first start on Wednesdat 9 June, he was very poorly ridden and against instruction swhich resulted in him finnishing 8.4lenghts 9th. While disapointed at the result, we are happy that he has pulled well and is bright and happy.

1 June

Ben was to trial again today at Rosehill but due to track conditions he was withdrawn.

19 May

It has come to my attention that several Bloodstock agents have been offering Ryley's Star for sale to owners in Hong Kong without my authority.
I wish to advise all owners in Hong Kong that Ryley's Star was only listed with one agent after he sent me an email requesting a 2yo for Hong Kong.
This email is available on request to any owner who was offered Ryley's Star by an agent.
I am very dissapointed in the actions of these Bloodstock Agents and apologise to any owner in Hong Kong for any incovenience and wrong information you were given by unauthorised agents

18 May

'Ben' was to have trialled today at Rosehill, but trials were cancelled due to wet weather.

4 May

'Ben' won his trial at Rosehill this morning, 900m in 54.19 by 1.8 lengths his time was 3rd fastest of the 6 2yo trials, Jay Ford rode. 'Ben' was out 3 wide from the start so Jay took him to the lead and he held the lead to the line to score by 1.8 lenghts.

3 May

'Ben' has been working nicely and is doing everything asked of him, he had another jump out last week and has made good progression. He will now trial tomorrow at Rosehill, the trial is over 900m and will be good education for 'Ben'. Blake shinn will ride.

21 April

'Ben' had a jump out and ran up 300m yesterday, Gerald is very happy with how 'Ben' went in the jump out. He said 'Ben' did everything right and he was very happy with how he handled the work, jumping well and straight onto the bit and travelled nicely. He will have another jump out and a trial and then with all going well he will then progress to his first race start in about 4 weeks, fingers crossed.

18 April

Ryley's Star (Ben) is progressing well in his preparation, he has now been in work for 8 weeks and coming along nicely. His trainer Gerald Ryan tells me that 'Ben' is a very chilled out horse and nothing bothers him at all, taking everything in his stride. He has always been like this and this is a good characteristic to have, given the stress and pressure young horses are exposed to during training and on raceday. He is enthusiastic in his work and is enjoying being in Gerald's Rosehill stable, where a lot a very good horses are trained from by one of the best trainers in the racing game.

Last week I applied for a new set of colors with my NuStar Syndications logo on them, I am very happy that these silks have been approved by Racing NSW. These silks will be worn by NuStar Syndications horses in NSW and Victoria. We are in the process of applying for a new set of colours for use in Western Australia as Logo's are not permitted in W.A

12 March

Selected by Gerald Ryan for NuStar Syndications at the 2009 Inglis Classic sale, Ryley's Star is a cracking type, has a very good walking action and is very easy to work with due to his high intelligence and very kind temperament. Ryley's Star looking nice and relaxed after his morning work. After an 8 week spell and 3 weeks pre-training he is now back in work with Gerald Ryan at his Rosehill stables. Ryley's Star on the left, just after his morning workout at Heritage Park. After showing some ability in his first preparation we are hopefull to see more of the same this time in.

Ryley's Star is owned by NuStar Syndications Racing Syndicate and J.T.Miller, this video was taken at Gerald Ryan's Rosehill stables during his first preperation. In his preparation he worked along niceley and progressed to a jump-out where he showed good speed. A week after the Jump-out he was off his feed a little and feeling his shins so he was sent for an 8 week spell at Heritage Park.

Kramersgrey - retired due to injury (31/10/09)

Kramersgrey showed good ability but suffered some bad feet injuries (corns and hematoma) and back muscle injuries in his second preparation which were undiagnosed by his trainer. I removed him from his trainers care and he was spelled, and on his return under the care of a new trainer unfortunately he suffered a tendon injury and after consultation with several vets was retired.

Although he didn't win a race in his 9 starts, he placed 3rd twice, was a trial winner and showed good abilty. Unfortunately he didn't get a real chance to show his true ability.
